Annotation:

In Slovakia, unlike in many Western countries, marriage has not yet undergone an institutional change. Proponents of the change argue that extending marriage to same-sex couples will not fundamentally change anything, only expand freedom where it has been denied. But is this really the case? Professor George, one of the co-authors of the important book What is Marriage? (2012) argues that changing marriage will change just about everything. A groundbreaking lecture that has the potential to turn the current Slovak debate on its head...

Lecture topics:

  1. What is marriage?
  2. Why is it the most important social institution?
  3. What would changing it really do to our society?
