Hanus Days is a unique urban cultural-academic festival in a beautiful city of Bratislava. Our aim is to combine faith with reason, to inspire the search for Truth, Goodness and Beauty, and also to show that Christianity "is not a memory of the past, but a very living and real reality." (Benedict XVI.) The festival is intended for both academics and a wider audience. You can look forward to several evenings of discussions and lectures in the fields of politics, theology, psychology or other social sciences. On the occasion of the Year of Christian Culture in Slovakia, the theme of the festival is Christian culture. This year also marks the 30th anniversary of the death of Ladislav Hanus, who intellectually developed the concept of Christian culture in his philosophical works.
In that it helps us, or, in its absence, makes it difficult to become good people. The word culture, as it is known, comes from the Latin colere - to cultivate, to inhabit, to worship, and suggests that, as well as the soil, we need to care for the sphere of the human spirit and to create an environment of spirituality and values that is conducive to human growth (morality, education, culture).
Christian culture adds a transcendent dimension to God's relationship with man and thus ennobles it. It preserves all that is good, true, and beautiful, while at the same time relating every value and goodness to the Creator. It enables man to see creation and life as a gift and thereby teaches him gratitude, generosity and responsibility for the stewardship of the world. At the same time, this does not prevent it from teaching us love of history, of tradition, of homeland, of language and culture. Aware of all the consequences of original sin, however, it also warns us against the illusiveness of hopes that politics cannot fulfil. In short, Christian culture protects us from current ideologies, prevents us from clinging too tightly and becoming too comfortable in this world, and reminds us of the deepest longings of our hearts that we forget: to seek something more than creation...God himself...

Our Romano Guardini. We cannot imagine an urban academic festival bearing the name of anyone else. Ladislav Hanus was a Catholic philosopher, theologian, translator, interpreter of literary works, connoisseur of sacred art and founder of the philosophy of culture in Slovakia.
Ladislav Hanus was a Slovak Catholic priest who tried to raise the faith and cultural life of Slovaks. His desire was that priests and believers should not live their religion only in a habitual, thoughtless and comfortable way, but that spiritually and ideologically rooted they should be able to shape the life of the society.

Pálffy palace is a national cultural monument from the middle of the 17th century. It will enchant you with its unmistakable atmosphere, fantastic acoustics and historical spaces, which are the remains of a part of the Pálffy family palace.

The organizer of the festival is the Ladislav Hanus Fellowship (SLH).
The vision of SLH is to be an inspiring community of competent and committed Christians who enrich culture, know and live their faith. Thanks to this, they are able to bring Christ into public life - politics, media, art and culture in Slovakia.That is why we consider our mission to be the intellectual and spiritual formation of young people and social engagement. We carry out this formation through formation and academic programs, which we have been implementing in Bratislava since 2002 and in Košice since 2015.
